REFLECTION

Experience:

I learned a lot about typography in this sem, and it was much more interesting than I initially thought. At first, I thought typography was just about choosing beautiful fonts and making the text look pleasing to the eye. But this class opened my eyes to more mysteries of typography.

We completed many different tasks - from learning the history of fonts, to making animated text, to designing our own fonts and posters. I used software such as Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, and even FontLab, which, although difficult at first, helped me grow a lot. One of my favorite parts was making animations to express the meaning of the words, and another highlight was designing my own fonts and using them in posters. These projects not only taught me how to be creative, but also how to think about structure and purpose.

Observation :

During this process, I noticed that even small changes in typography can make a huge difference. Just changing the font style or the spacing between letters can affect the way people read and feel the message.

I also discovered that good font design is not just about looking "cool", but also about choosing fonts that match the message. If the font is too fancy, people may not understand it. If the font is too plain, it may not match the emotion. So, there is always a balance between design and meaning.

I also realized that making your own font is not easy. Small details such as spacing, curves, and size are crucial. It takes time and multiple attempts to get it perfect.

Discovery :

Through this subject, I discovered that font design is more than just decoration. It is a way to convey a message clearly and emotionally. Good fonts can guide readers, show tone, and make the design more appealing.

I also learned that every part of the design, even the small ones, plays a role. While software helps to bring ideas to life, the most important thing is the thinking behind it. You need to think: What do I want to express? Who is this for? How can I make it easier to understand?

Ultimately, I feel more confident using design tools, and I have a new understanding of fonts. I hope to continue learning and better combine creativity with clear communication.
