PRACTICAL
DEVELOPMENT

Phase 1: Initial composition establishment
I started by collaging a high-saturation, high-contrast background: a combination of real mountains and a high-contrast moon, and a ground with densely colored flowers. This phase allowed me to quickly establish visual tension, but the overall feeling was rather stiff and lacked a sense of space.

Phase 2: Background style adjustment
To make the picture softer, I stylized the mountains and sky, added old canvas textures, adjusted saturation and hue to make the tones soft and retro, and created a tranquil, imaginative natural scene that was closer to the atmosphere of dreams. The flowers also reduced contrast and pulled out gradients to present a more natural sense of depth. At this stage, I mainly focused on compositional balance and color coordination.

Phase 2: Adding symbolic objects
Then I added an open book, butterflies and flowers to the foreground of the painting. These elements symbolize knowledge, hope and vitality, and also enhance the narrative sense of the painting. I began to try layer stacking and shadow expression to enhance the sense of space.
